CERAMICS IN THE MORNING

Ages Adults

Get your hands dirty with this fun class!  Whether you’re new to ceramics, or have some experience, this class is for all skill levels. Learn everything about the medium, from basic concepts and building techniques to more advanced skills. Create beautiful functional or sculptural objects by hand using a slab roller, wheel, and extruder. Begin to learn and gain a deeper understanding of the ceramic arts. High-fire stoneware clay and non-toxic glazes are used for the final pieces. Working with your hands to create something unique – what better way to start your day?

This class is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate knitters who want to expand their skills and complete more challenging projects.  Guidance will be provided with project and yarn selection, techniques (increasing, decreasing, cables, lace, etc), blocking and finishing.  This class is designed for someone who knows how to knit and purl.  Bring your own materials.

ENCAUSTIC

ENCAUSTIC

Course Semester: Spring
Tuesday 4:00PM - 7:00PM
Ages Adults

This class will provide a fully-immersive introduction to the encaustic medium and method, with ample time for individual work development. After an historical overview of the ancient medium of using molten wax and resin with pigment, Katherine will demonstrate the fundamentals followed by various exciting techniques for using the medium. Students will have hands-on experience to explore encaustic as a pure painting medium as well as a component or enhancement of mixed media works. This is a great opportunity for students to expand their visual vocabulary with wax as well as for curious beginners who wish to explore an unusual medium. Students are encouraged to bring an open mind and a willingness to experiment with a new material!
